iPhone/Apple TV etc

So, when my contract expires, which won’t be for a while, I think I’ll be getting an iPhone.  Hopefully by that point they’ll be into version 2, and it will include iChat, an iSight, and a few other bells and whistles.  Still, it is probably the most amazing handheld consumer device I’ve ever seen.  I can’t wait to actually hold one and try out that crazy multi-touch screen.  It looks amazing…

I hope they get around to updating the existing line of iPods to match the iPhone, just without the phone part.  I was really looking forward to a 100+gb widescreen iPod.  The rumor mills have said that they’re supposedly releasing 3 different iPod-devices this year, so perhaps there is still hope for those of us locked into mobile contracts for the time being.  If only we have the European mobile model…  Stupid American “business models.”

I might have to pick up an Apple TV unit later this year.  I have an eyeHome from elgato systems right now, but I really wish it played iTunes protected content.  The eyeHome is pretty neat, and it was a bargain (I got it refurbished), but it’s a drag that I can’t play anything I’ve bought on iTunes.  I’m no iTunes spending fiend, but my list of purchases is getting longer as the years pass.

Anyway, it was a cool MacWorld keynote.  Too bad there wasn’t a “one more thing” moment.

The Gym and a Shuffle

I joined a gym the other day, and I’ve been there three times (that’s once a day so far).  I’m pretty psyched about the whole idea.  Just for the record: this is not a new year’s resolution.  This is more like a last summer resolution that I am just now getting around to putting into action.

Also, I picked up an iPod Shuffle the other day, mostly for use at the gym.  It’s incredible.  One cannot really appreciate it’s incredibly tiny size until you put it in your pocket and almost forget it’s there.  It’s completely awesome.
